Restaurant Spotlight: Slightly North of Broad

January in Charleston might be the coolest time of year, but that makes it the perfect time to cozy up inside a warm restaurant. Which is extra handy because we’re also right in the middle of one of the most delicious times of the year.

Restaurant Week.

This means that many of the restaurants downtown and in the surrounding areas are offering up some of their yummiest dishes in the form of multi-course meals at amazing prices.

What I have on offer are some yummy pictures of one of my personal favorite spots downtown: Slightly North of Broad and a little trip down sensory memory lane.

S.N.O.B., as the locals call it, will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first restaurant I ate at after moving to Charleston and I can still remember every delectable bite.

They brought out champagne, simply because it was my first visit. Don’t you just love a restaurant that loves to celebrate with you?

And then they brought out the cornbread. The perfect perfect cornbread. I’d come just for it. Warm, moist, buttery. Yum.

I ordered the caramelized pear salad with Champagne vinaigrette for a starter and the pan roasted duck breast with this yellow squash soufflé that I’m still dreaming about almost 11 years later for my main. Every bite was a mouthwatering miracle.

On my second visit, I took one of my best friends from home who was visiting and requested seats at the Chef’s Counter where you have a front-row view of all the kitchen magic. So you can watch them make your cake, and then eat it too.

S.N.O.B. is the first place I ever tried Triggerfish. It’s the first place I’d ever heard of Triggerfish! My husband and I have celebrated anniversaries there, and I’ve been with my parents when we’ve celebrated their anniversary.

Like I said, it’s a special place.

The BBQ tuna topped with fried oysters and country ham butter.

If you’re in town during Restaurant Week you should book yourself a seat. I’ve linked their special 3-course selection menu for Restaurant Week here (which includes the duck).

And just so you know, their brunch is amazing too…

Cheers!
