About

Hi! Im Amy Probin and I’m so excited to be launching this brand new version of the site with you all! I’ve been wanting to focus the attention of the content a little more closely around Charleston, while still leaving some space for stories from my own life and travels...

about EVERYDAY CHARLESTON

I created Everyday Charleston as a space for sharing the things that I love, and to provide inspiration and ideas for the things in life that you all love too. I’ll be sharing information about Charleston home and garden design, style, and recipes that I love with plenty of local flavor. I’ll also be sharing details about places to stay, eat, and shop to help you plan your own trip to Charleston. The name, Everyday Charleston, stems from my hope that by sharing what I love about this beautiful city, you’ll be able to find ways to bring some of Charleston’s charm into your own daily life.

about THE AUTHOR

The inspiration for Everyday Charleston has its beginnings back in the Fall of 2008. I spent a semester studying in Florence, Italy and during those four months I developed a genuine passion for food, for travel, and for Italian design. I spent hours each week making everything from fresh pasta to paella in a Mediterranean cooking class. I worked part-time in a small restaurant and shared dinners with coworkers while we discussed the evening menu. I enjoyed lunches with neighbors and picnics with language partners. Every weekend I jumped on a train and explored new places around Italy and the surrounding countries. It was a beautiful and exciting time in my life and it has continued to effect how I approach life ever since.

Fast forward through the years and I am now living in Charleston, SC, married to a wonderful man from England named Jamie. Jamie brought two children of his own into our marriage and we’ve recently added a beautiful baby girl together to perfectly round out our family of five. We split our time between our home here, trips to visit my family in the Midwest and my husband’s family in England, excursions to the villages of France, the countryside of Italy, and many more places.

And that brings us back to my vision for Everyday Charleston. Charleston, like our family, carries with it influences from all across the world. It may take great pride in its southern heritage, but its roots extend even deeper than just the surrounding soil. Charleston’s real beauty lies in its variety and I hope to be able to share that with you here. I hope you enjoy it!

  1. Amy I really think you’ve done a wonderful job with the new look and feel of your blog. You have a knack for words and each of your stories show that. The subjects you write about and the pictures you included should make everyone want to visit Charleston. It is one of the most interesting cities I’ve ever been to and I find new things to see and do each time we visit. Great job!
